Upcut Chipbreaker, Spiral Router Bits - (3 Flute) Solid Carbide - Vortex 2060. Cutting Edge Diameter 1/2 Cutting Edge Length 1 3/4 Shank Diameter 1/2 Overall Length 3 1/2. Chipbreaker cutting edges break the chips into small pieces reducing power consumption and vibration. Chipbreakers are staggered on each flute to produce a smooth cut, but may leave visual lines on the part when used in router spindles in poor condition. The three flute design provides a better edge finish than a two flute tool at the same feed rate. Chipbreaker tools are recommended for hardwoods, plywoods, and dense materials where higher feed rates are required.
